Hi! I’m Alyson, and from June 07, I stayed in Orta Nova, a city in Italy. This project is part of the European Solidarity Corps. I always wanted to do an ESC, so in April I applied to many of them but after talking to Rocco I knew I wanted to do this one. Me and five other volunteers took part in Erasmus + week, not one but three weeks. In June to the beginning of July. I was excited to meet everyone. This is the first month, of the ESC. The trip was full of excitement and stress. I arrived very late and alone. The first person I met was Sebastiano, such a nice and warm person. Every volunteer met the day after. We went to the office and met the rest of Beyond Borders team, Rocco, Carmine, and Eva. We met Maria later that week. We also met the italians volunteers and did a game to introduce ourselves. Then they explain what we will be doing, how and when. A few days later, we did the Mission impossible, with the help of the Italian volunteers,we went around the town to find our answer. We met and exchanged gifts with locals. We also prepared our intercultural night. It was an amazing experience, we did it in a bar. It was really fun.
After that week, it was time to prepare for the first week of Erasmus. For the Erasmus project we went to a secluded place known as Kiathos. It was really pretty. We cleaned, organized, created, prepared a lot for this first week. The project was about reconnecting to nature. The arrival day, we met the first participant. We were all very excited and shy. The first day, we all introduced ourselves again by playing games. We talked a lot. On the second day we had an intercultural night (Italian one). We also had during the week, Greece, Turkish, Romanian and Danish intercultural nights. My personal favorite was Romanian intercultural night. It was really fun and I enjoyed the food the most. We also had a beach day, which was really good and full of fun. Since this week was about reconnecting with nature , we tried to stay off our phones and talk to each other. We did yoga every morning, we made visuals about what could make.the world better. And we presented it to the Italian community. It was an amazing week.
